Committed to Providing Quality RV Repair in Riverside, CA

There are more RV’s in Riverside county than any of the surrounding counties and many of those RV’s are permanently set up, or are occupied on a long term basis.  When those RV’s need service, it isn’t viable to take them to a repair shop.  They need an expert mobile technician to make the needed repairs on-site.

If this describes your situation please call us.  We’re “Chadwick – RV Doctor” and we provide the best mobile RV repair in Riverside, CA.

Whether you’re staying in Riverside for a few days or a few years, we can help with your RV service requirements.  All our technicians are Master Certified RV Technicians. This is the highest level of credentialing in the RV industry and requires constant continuing education classes to maintain this certification.

In addition to being fully credentialed our technicians travel in fully stocked one ton service vans carrying tools, test equipment, spare parts and a huge technical library. When we arrive on site there is a 90% probability that your issue will be fixed within 1 hour. And if we can’t fix it, the call is free! (see website for details). No other mobile RV repair in Riverside CA dares to offer that promise because no other company has our level of technical competence.

Also consider these points

  • Are the competition technicians Certified?
  • Do they carry liability insurance?
  • Do they have a toll free number?
  • Do they carry a huge selection of parts on-hand?
  • Are they a warranty center for dozens of manufacturers?
  • Do they give you a 90 day written guaranty?
  • Do they arrive in a professional uniform?
  • Do they arrive in a proper service vehicle?
  • Do they offer a “We Fix It Or It’s Free” guaranty?
  • Do they offer service 7 days a week?

Our technicians meet all of the above criteria and still cost less than the repair shops.

When you take your RV to a shop, the staff will insist that you remain outside the service area, citing some OSHA regulation. Our technicians don’t mind if you watch closely and ask questions during the repair. Just don’t get so close that you slow as down. ? During the repair it is common for the technician to update the customer as to what exactly is being done, and what steps the customer could take in the future to avoid this problem.  This might result in fewer service calls in the future, but generates tremendous goodwill and customer satisfaction.

RV’s are complicated vehicles, with moving walls, multiple electrical systems, and control switches all over the place. It’s not surprising that most RV problems are beyond the abilities of the owner and really require an expert.  When your situation requires an expert RV repair in Riverside County  you can be assured that “The Doctor” has your best interest at heart.

If your schedule is tight and you don’t have time during the day to wait around your RV while repairs are being made, …no problem. Just tell us where you’ve hidden your keys and we’ll make the repairs  while you’re away.  When we’re finished we’ll call you for your credit card number.  Easy!  We accept Visa, Master Card and Discover. If you’re home and want to pay with cash, we offer a $10 cash discount. Easy and convenient!

We can even order major appliances (fridges, air conditioners, water heaters etc) and deliver them to your doorstep on the day we’re installing them. For customers who want parts shipped to them for themselves to install, they can order the parts from our web page at http://www.go-rv.com/coast/do/catalog/main?dealerId=2707

Skilled RV Repair in San Diego

Are you visiting San Diego for business or pleasure? Or possibly living there in your RV? Whatever your situation, the “RV Doctor” is available to give you the best RV repair in San Diego.

Because of our huge customer base we are not able to service the San Diego county areas south of Del Mar, but we can provide mobile RV repair to Oceanside  residents and most of southern California. Please see our “Service Area” map to view the areas of coverage. Naturally we will go outside these areas but additional travel charges will apply. Please see our “Terms of Service” page for our standard fees and please call us at 1-866-783-6286 for travel outside our normal service area.

Many of our customers require our help with sewer type problems including faulty waste valves, plugged toilets and waste tank blockages. Although these types of problems are unpleasant to the homeowner, we handle them in stride as they are a common occurrence for our trained technicians. And we utilize specialized equipment to correct these problems without spilling waste water anywhere.

Many RV owners believe that they should leave all their waste valves open when they are permanently connected to a site with an underground sewer. This is wrong! Here are the rules for waste valves: If you have a dishwasher or a clothes washing machine, leave your Grey valve open, as these machines will quickly fill your Grey tank. If you don’t have either of these machines I recommend closing the Grey valve so that food scraps that enter the Grey tank (via the kitchen sink) will be mixing with water in the Grey tank instead of hardening on the bottom of a dry and empty holding tank.  The Black water valve is the critical valve. It MUST be kept closed at all times except when dumping. By keeping this valve closed, you trap the water in the tank. This trapped water breaks down the solid waste and toilet paper. If you are using chemicals in the Black tank, these chemicals will mix with the trapped water to further break down the solids and allow the solids and liquids to flood out when the Black valve is opened. Always open your Black valve first and close it before opening your Grey valve. By dumping the Grey water after the Black water, the Grey water can rinse out your flexible sewer hose.

Are chemicals good for your Black Tank? All of the brand name chemicals (for Black Tanks) will improve the operation of your Black tank and some will also help lubricate the Black Waste valve. However, you should not add chemicals immediately after dumping. Here’s why: The “exit pipe” from your black tank is a 3” diameter pipe that may travel several feet before meeting the Black Waste valve. As such, the initial water that is put into the Black tank (after dumping) will run out of your Black tank via the exit line, and will sit at the closed Black Gate Valve. If the first liquid put into the Black tank (after dumping) contains chemicals, those chemicals will be sitting in the exit line at the closed Black Valve. They will not be in your tank at all! You need to put sufficient water down the toilet to fill the “Exit line” before adding chemicals.

How do you fix a toilet that has standing water in the bowl? Well you definitely shouldn’t put a hose down the toilet as that will fill up the bowl even more. Even a snake is ineffective as they are designed to navigate pipes, not holding tanks.  For that type of problem you need to call the best mobile RV repair San Diego . You need to call the experts at “Chadwick – RV Doctor”. Ask to speak to the owner (Howard Chadwick) at 949-466-9088 or 1-866-783-6286. Please call now so that we can get your problem fixed today!

If you’re looking for the best value, please consider these points;

  • Almost all mobile RV techs are self employed with no formal training, credentials or certifications. They have not passed ant tests and have no documented level of competency or knowledge.  The service technicians at Chadwick RV Doctor are all Master Certified.
  • Our Master Certified Technicians must complete annual training to maintain their RVIA Certification.  Non-certified repairmen don’t take any tests, or complete any CE courses. Any unemployed “wrench turner” can call himself a RV technician, and work on your rig.
  • It is rare to find a mobile RV repairman who has liability insurance. If your uninsured technician causes damage to your RV, you may discover he has no insurance and no assets to be claimed in a lawsuit. WE put our money where our mouth is. WE carry a one million dollar liability policy to ensure that our customers are never at risk.
  • :Typically when you call the competition, they don’t have a 800 number, so you’re paying long distance charges to talk to them. They usually have a backlog of calls because they don’t carry sufficient parts. When they arrive they likely won’t have the required parts with them, which stretches your service call or results in a 2nd trip. This adds expense and inconvenience to your experience.

Our service reps travel in 1 ton vans filled with a huge inventory of spare parts, allowing us to complete 95% of our calls in 1 visit. Because we finish our repairs during the initial visit, we can usually get to you within 1-2 hours without wading through a queue of backlogged calls

Our Certified Service Tech’s are required to complete Continuing Education courses to keep their RVIA Certification current. There is nothing to prevent an unemployed “wrench turner” from calling himself a ”RV Technician” and working on your rig.

This 2nd visit often triggers a 2nd travel charge.  Now you’re paying extra because they didn’t stock the required parts.

Mobile RV Furnace Repair Services in Los Angeles County

Have you looked at our service area in Los Angeles county for mobile RV repair-services furnace? If you’re within our service area boundaries, we can help. Even if you’re outside those boundaries, we can still repair your furnace but additional travel charges will apply.
Tips and tricks for your RV furnace.

  1. Don’t place anything flammable near the exhaust of the furnace. The exhaust air is very hot and will melt plastic tables and ignite any flammable fabric that may be obstructing the exhaust air. If you’re not sure where the furnace exhaust air is located, just turn on your furnace and walk around the outside of your RV listening for the furnace blower motor. When you’ve located the motor sound you’ll notice an exhaust vent (and possible an intake vent too). The exhaust vent will have hot air coming out.
  2. There is no air filter on a RV furnace so don’t worry about cleaning it.
  3. When you turn on your furnace for the first time each season you will smell burning dust for the first 10-20 minutes. That’s normal.
  4. Mud wasps (mud daubers) like to enter your furnace via the air intake or exhaust vents and build mud nests inside your furnace. You can buy a screen to place over the intake and exhaust vents to prevent this. Don’t get a screen with a really fine mesh as this will choke off the air supply to the furnace.
  5. If you’re in a freezing environment and your propane tank is almost empty, your furnace may not operate correctly. Filling your propane tank will fix this.
  6. When you turn on your furnace the blower motor will run for about 30 seconds before the burner ignites. When you turn off the furnace the burner will extinguish immediately but the blower motor will run for about 45 seconds.
  7. If you are “Dry Camping” your furnace will drain your battery every time the furnace comes on. Set your thermostat lower than normal to conserve battery power.

The Need to Keep Your Recreational Vehicle in Good Running Condition

It Pays to Be Prepared: The Importance of Regular RV Repair in Los Angeles

The fire that blazed on the afternoon of May 27, 2013 in the Los Padres National Forest near Santa Barbara ravaged 2.8 square miles of dry oak, pine, and chaparral. More than 550 firefighters and a dozen aircraft struggled to get the upper hand on the fast-moving conflagration, which prompted as many as 6,000 campers to evacuate the forest area on the Memorial Day holiday.

Consider yourself lucky if you weren’t there at that instance. Then again, what if you were? Do you think your RV would have held up to the chaos of evacuating out of the place in the nick of time? Would it have held together behind a long line of RVs and other fleeing vehicles in the midst of anarchic traffic? Such situations highlight how important visits to your local Los Angeles RV repair shop could be.

When the fire began, witnesses reported seeing a giant smoke cloud rising over the mountains and blanketing Santa Barbara. Michael Devlin, a Santa Barbara local, recounts that “The sky was completely red, and you could just see red sunlight coming through. It’s pretty scary.”

Since your RV represents a significant investment on your part, you need to maintain it to ensure that it serves its intended purpose at optimal effectiveness. RV maintenance goes a long way in keeping your vehicle running smoothly. The good thing about quality Los Angeles County RV repair experts like Chadwick RV Doctor is that you don’t have to drive your vehicle to the garage; as their staff are willing to come to you. You simply make a call, and their mechanics could be onsite to get the job done. So in case of emergency or just plain old regular maintenance work, have their number ready with you at all times.

Aside from regular maintenance, here are a few other tips to keep you, your RV, and those around you safe: Know the prescribed inflation pressure for your tires, and monitor each one periodically. Know your vehicle’s weight limits and stay within those limits. Check all the vehicle fluids (engine oil, brake fluid, power steering fluid, transmission fluid, radiator coolant, window washer solution, etc.) and make sure they’re topped off. Above all else, be sure to drive at safe speeds.

By Wednesday, May 29, the Santa Barbara County Sheriff department reported that the fire was 90% contained. Winds held steady at 14 mph, and although humidity was still at 39 percent and temperatures were in the high 70s, firefighters were nevertheless able to make good headway. By Friday, however, the evacuated campers were still not permitted back into the fire zone to retrieve their belongings.

Although no one wishes for such events to happen, it pays to be prepared for them. Having your RV inspected and maintained regularly will ensure that on those long camping trips when the unexpected happens and you need to move on fast, you know you can rely on your RV to bear you safely through wherever you need to go.

How Long Do You Really Need to Idle an RV Diesel Engine

blog06[1]According to Cummins Customer Support, the definitive reply is contained in your Operation and Maintenance manual for the engine. The guidelines are set for extreme conditions such that the engine is protected if one follows the guidelines.

Your engine will last relatively longer or shorter depending on how well you abide by the suggestions in the O&M manual. If it’s not severely cold out and you’re using high quality, clean 15W-40 engine oil (or 10W-30 below 70 deg. F), you may start the engine, let it idle for 10-15 seconds and slowly drive away (at modest power levels) with no ill effects.

If you’ve been running hard or pulling up hill, the engine may need to be run as long as 5 minutes at idle to uniformly cool internal components and reject heat away from turbo bearings, before shutting off the engine. When stopping for fuel, running slowly off the Interstate ramp and driving at low power levels to the fuel stop counts for some of this time. If you’ve been running on the highway, it’s a good idea to idle for a couple of minutes before shutting down.

Cummins does NOT recommend excessive idling of the engines, since it can cause excessive carbon buildup on the pistons, piston rings, injector tips, valves, etc.

For RV applications, it is recommended that the vehicle be driven for an hour rather than be started and ran at idle for an hour.

Of course idling at start-up will also allow the engine to build up air pressure for the RV’s braking system. Hopefully your diesel RV neighbors have an auxiliary air compressor, so that their engine doesn’t need to be run, to build up air pressure. Especially if they are leaving the RV park at 5 AM.

For more detailed information, visit Don’t Over Idle Your RV’s Diesel Engine.
